Theoretical content

  • Consequences of an explosion
  • Regulations (European directives and labor code)
  • Definition of an explosive atmosphere
  • Conditions for the formation of an ATEX (LIE, LSE)
  • Sources of inflammation
  • Sizing of explosion risk zones
  • Identification and classification of zones: flammable gases, vapors, and dust
  • Signage
  • Application to workstations (drafting a work instruction)
  • Work in an ATEX zone (drafting a work permit)
  • Obligations regarding access to areas at risk of explosion
  • Marking of usable materials, tools and equipment
  • Prevention measures and safety instructions
  • Various ATEX markings and protection methods

Practical application

  • Site visit, identification of the company's ATEX zones, the workstations concerned, review of the procedures to follow to access these zones, how to supervise an intervention in an ATEX zone (prevention and protection measures, etc.)
  • Identification of a marking in the area
  • Drafting of a work instruction for a workstation within the company, as well as a work authorization for an ATEX zone within the company.

Evaluation and validation methods

A multiple-choice questionnaire must be completed at the end of the training; passing it is a condition for receiving the individual certificate of completion of the training.
