Since July 1, 2012, the French Labor Code has required all employers, regardless of company size or activity, to designate one or more competent employees to handle occupational health and safety activities. The health and safety officer, also known as a "prevention officer," is a key player in workplace prevention policy. They assist the employer, particularly in assessing occupational risks and planning prevention measures. This includes the appointment process, the responsibilities associated with the role, and penalties for negligence.

- Various health and safety issues at work.
- Different internal and external actors, and their respective roles.
- Regulations – legal context regarding occupational health and safety: labor code, penal code, civil code, case law.
- Right to raise an alert for serious and imminent danger, environmental, social and right to withdraw.
- Analysis of the accident, near miss at work, of the incident, using the fault tree method and the 5W2H method.
- Risk assessment: DUERP, assess chemical risks using the SEIRICH tool.
- Site visit and job analysis using the ITAMAMI tool.
- Management of External Companies (EE): prevention plan, PPSPS, fire permit, work permit, safety protocol, HSE clauses in contracts.
- Managing a safety approach / the different prevention tools.
- Communication.
- New employee induction: safety induction, safety booklet, mentoring.
Evaluation and validation methods
Trainees are assessed by the instructor throughout the training based on their participation in exercises and various questions, their involvement during the site visit, their suggestions for improving working conditions, and their ability to identify hazardous situations. A multiple-choice questionnaire is also completed by the trainees at the end of the training.
At the end, each participant will receive an individual certificate of completion for the training.
Recycling
Every 4 years.

Any employee who has accepted the role of Safety Officer or that of Deputy Safety Officer.
