Professional development leave: a lever for career advancement in the civil service
As part of a career change or development project, civil servants can benefit from a professional training leave (CFP). This scheme allows them to take temporary leave from their post to undertake training and develop new skills.
Who can benefit from it?
The CFP is open to tenured civil servants as well as contract employees with at least three years of service. Applications must be submitted to the administration, which has one month to respond.
In case of refusal, appeals are possible, in particular to the joint administrative committee.
Certain profiles benefit from priority access, including low-skilled agents, people with disabilities, or those exposed to risks of occupational burnout.
A system to support professional projects
Training leave allows individuals to pursue a variety of paths: degree programs, certifications, or exam preparation. It can be organized on a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the project's needs.
The objective is clear: to enable agents to acquire new qualifications, enrich their career path or reorient themselves towards another profession.
Terms and conditions of the CFP
Professional training leave is governed by specific rules.
In general, the employee can receive compensation for a maximum of 12 months, corresponding to a portion of their salary. Beyond that, the leave can continue without pay, up to a maximum of three years over the course of their entire career.
For priority groups, conditions may be more favorable, with compensation extended over a longer period.
During training, the agent retains a specific status allowing him to benefit from certain guarantees, particularly in terms of social protection.
A tool to support professional transitions
Faced with the evolving nature of public sector jobs, the CFP (Centre de Formation Professionnelle - Professional Training Centre) provides a genuine opportunity for adaptation. It allows individuals to anticipate changes, develop new skills, or build a career transition plan.
This system meets both the aspirations of the agents and the skills needs of the administrations.
Additional measures in the private sector
While the CFP (Centre de Formation Professionnelle) is exclusively for the public sector, other mechanisms exist for private sector employees, such as the professional transition project or leave related to specific functions.
Furthermore, training courses can also be taken as part of the company's skills development plan, particularly to meet regulatory obligations or to strengthen the prevention of occupational risks.
Training, a key lever for progress
Training remains a key element for professional development, whether in the public or private sector. Topics can be varied: occupational health and safety, risk prevention, improvement of working conditions, or development of specific skills.
MD Conseil Formation supports professionals in developing their skills through programs tailored to the current challenges faced by organizations. These training programs help secure career paths and meet the demands of the job market.
Investing in training means preparing for the future and opening up new career opportunities.
