Goals

  • Identify the types of confined spaces
  • Analyze the risks associated with confined spaces
  • Understanding the role of supervisors and responders
  • Prepare for the intervention and intervene safely
  • Responding in case of an emergency

Program

  • Presentation of confined spaces: types, access characteristics, related problems
  • Risks in confined spaces: fire, ATEX, falls from height and on the same level, biological risk, chemical risk, anoxia, hypoxia.
  • Actors in confined spaces and their roles
  • Confined space prevention measures and emergency measures
  • Procedures and their traceability (work permits, entry authorizations, consignments of all fluids)
  • Communication markings and protocol
  • Principles of ventilation and sanitation
  • Atmospheric control: use of detectors
  • Responding in case of accident or incident
  • Conducting practical exercises on client sites

Evaluation and validation methods

An end-of-training questionnaire will be given to trainees at the end of the training (multiple-choice type).
Subject to successful completion of the training, they will be given an individual certificate of completion.

Future instructors and capacity monitors, prevention stakeholders, team leaders, site managers

Prerequisites

To be physically capable of penetrating
(occupational medicine)

Note:

  • Please bring your own PPE (work clothes, helmet and safety shoes)
  • This course does not include practical exercises involving descent with a fall arrest harness or intervention with SCBA (see additional courses on this equipment).
